Greyfriars Equine Unit is a first opinion general practice. We aim to help you keep all your equines, whether they be horses, ponies or donkeys fit, active and healthy and to provide a professional and friendly service at as reasonable a cost to you as possible.
As well as treating horses at our premises, we visit horses throughout Surrey and Hampshire.
We have two very experienced equine vets: Debbie Watson and Pippa Duncan.
At the Equine Unit the vets have access to a range of the latest equipment including mobile digital X-ray equipment (Cuattro Uno) as well as static X-ray machines, portable ultrasound scanners, power dental rasps, endoscopy equipment etc. Clients can bring their horses into the Equine Unit themselves if they prefer (in which case no visit charge is applicable) but there are occasions when it is more appropriate for horses to be brought into the quiet and relaxed environment of the unit, for examination or treatment. We have stocks for examining a horse safely and securely when required. In addition we maintain one of only a few official measuring pads in the area. Debbie Watson is accredited by the Joint Measuring Board to take official measurements.
Before booking your visit, it is worth considering if any other of your or a neighbour's horses need treatment or vaccinations that can be dealt with during the vet's visit. This way we can reduce the costs to you. Remember - if we see 4 or more horses there is no visit fee.
We are supporting the TAL scheme which offers Free ACTH (Cushings) tests for horse/ponies displaying signs of laminitis/PPID. Although we still have to charge for the visit and for the consultation there will be no laboratory fee until the end of October. For more information go to www.talkaboutlaminitis.co.uk
